The Last Good Balance Transfer Offer

Good balance transfer cards and low APRs are scarce these days, but there is still one good opportunity left with Simmons First National Bank. They have 2 low APR credit cards that do not charge the standard 3% balance transfer fee. Both cards also have no annual fee and one even offers a basic travel rewards program.

Both of these cards have extremely low APRs at 7.25% for the standard card and 9.25% for the reward card as of 11/24/09. I would personally do the balance transfer, take advantage of no transfer fee, and go for the card with the lower rate.

There are some better options out there for travel reward cards if you are interested in those. Simmons simply has the best deal for a balance transfer that does not have a teaser rate that will magically spike upwards in a few months.

The Best Cards to Carry a Balance

I don’t recommend that you ever carry a balance on a credit card, but everyone gets in tough situations at one point or another. Both of these cards will save you tons of money if you ever do have to carry a balance over to the next month.

The standard Simmons card has a low APR that is half what most credit cards typically gouge you for. If you have good credit then do the no fee balance transfer and keep your interest rate under control!
