Blockbuster Overview

Blockbuster’s movie rental service would be the best choice for someone who watches tons of movies and still likes going to the store to trade them in a few times a month. They have tens of thousands of movies and TV series to choose from.

Unlike Netflix, Blockbuster offers used games and movies for sale on their website at a discounted price to their subscribers. If you are the type of person that likes to own the movies you like this service may be of interest to you.

The biggest downside to Blockbuster’s service that you cannot stream video to your PC or TV from an online service like you can with Netflix.

Netflix Overview

Netflix does not have brick and mortar stores that you can go exchange your movies at like Blockbuster, but their mail service works very quickly. Turnaround on movie exchanges is usually done in 2 business days unless you live out in the sticks somewhere.

The best thing about Netflix in my opinion is their new service that allows you to watch movies and TV show online. You cannot watch every movie they have online, but there are hundreds to choose from and more are added regularly.

In addition watching what Netflix has to offer online, you also gain access to 1000 movies from Starz Play and you can stream their live TV station to you PC or TV.

Which is Best?

Blockbuster is best if you still like to go to the movie store, purchase a lot of movies, or must have Blue-ray technology.

Netflix is best if never want to leave home and have a high-speed internet connection to steam videos to your TV or PC.

Really Cheap Movies

I recommend using one of the $8.99/mo plans and then heading to a Redbox movie dispenser if you really must get your hands on a new release. You can’t beat getting a rental for $1/day. Just remember to return it or that $1/day can really add up.
