Bankrate’s search engine will find you the best interest rates on certificates of deposits, mortgage loans, interest savings and checking accounts, and high yield money market accounts in your area. I was able to find interest rates of over 5% on savings, liquid money market accounts, and CDs. GMAC Bank offers what we’ve found to be the highest interest rates in the industry on CD’s and money market accounts. As of today, 11/17/07, the money market APY is 4.5% due to a recent action by the federal reserve! Good luck beating that!
What we like best is that you only need to carry a $500 minimum balance in order to get the rates that other lenders require $5,000-10,000 for. There’s no hidden fees and you can link your new account directly to your standard checking account at a different bank. |
