How to Save Money on Car Insurance
A Quick Check Can Save $100’s
No… this isn’t what your thinking. This is not an advertisement for Geico, Nationwide, or Allstate. And no, this is not an advertisement for Esurance.com either. We will not use barnyard animals or talking reptiles to woo you to purchase insurance from us. This is just a great tip to easily save you large sums of money on your home and auto insurance policys!
NAIC.ORG
Have you ever heard of The National Asociation of Insurance Commissioners or naic.org? It’s too bad if you have not because with a little digging and a few minutes of your time, you can “usually” find a list of auto insurance quotes for scenarios similar to yours.
Major auto insurance companies like Progressive or Nationwide may charge you vastly different amounts, adding up to hundreds of dollars for the same exact coverage! I have personally used the auto insurance comparison guide in Nevada to knock $600 off my bi-annual premiums! That’s 1,200 bucks a year!
Steps to Take
- Go to naic.org.
- Click the orange tab entitled “states and jurisdictions.”
- Select your state on the map.
- From the state website you must locate the “comparison” guide in the consumer section.
It may take some searching on your states website for the comparison guide, but it is well worth your time. Average 6 month premiums for auto insurance in Utah for a married couple age 39 ranged anywhere from $350 to $1200 in 2007! The insurance premiums for a 20 yr old single male ranged from $800 to $2600!
The difference in price for homeowners insurance is also amazing as well so don’t forget to compares these rates as well!
Auto Insurance Websites Lie
Sites like esurance.com and insweb.com just do not give you the full story although they may be a decent option if your state doesn’t publish an annual guide. Try checking out a neighboring state’s guide though if you cannot find one for your own to get an idea of which companies are gouging customers on their premiums.
In a tight economy like this the $1200 per year I’m saving is a lifesaver! I hope that this valuable info will serve you just as well!
Sincerely,
