Ditch Your Cable TV!
I don’t get cable, nor do I actually own a television. All my entertainment needs are met through my $30/month cable internet connection and a $10/month subscription to Netflix. Most TV shows can be seen for free on the major networks within a few hours after their airtime or the following day.
Watch Whenever You Want
The best thing about internet TV is that you can watch your favorite shows whenever you feel like it. There are less commercials too, especially if you view your shows on Hulu.
Watch Movies Too
Netflix has tons of recent TV series and movies that you can stream online! For $8.99 you get 1 physical DVD rental at a time and unlimited online viewing as well as the STARZ movie channel which you can stream live.
Hulu has a ton of free movies to watch as well. Either of these options blows away a $50+ monthly cable bill in my opinion!
Connect Your PC to Your TV
If you really wanted to you could even hook your big screen television up to your PC with an S-video, HDMI, or other suitable cable. Then get an HDTV tuner and pick up the free local channels from ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, The CW, and a few others.

Try Hulu, ESPN, & Netflix
As mentioned earlier, you can check out Hulu for free online movies and many shows from the channels listed above. It’s completely legit, so no worries with piracy.
The only problem with watching your favorite TV online is live sporting events. You can watch live events and replays on ESPN 360 for free online with most internet providers and on college campuses. The quality isn’t the best, but this will probably improve soon.
Unless you like paying obscene prices for cable packages then you should definitely check out free TV online. All you need is an s-video or HDMI cable to plug your computer into your big screen TV and you are good to go! Netflix gives you cheap online movies and TV series, cable and network channels post their shows for FREE online, and ESPN 360 will hook you up with live sporting events for FREE!
